Feature
Why it Matters
Is there a setup fee?
Shop around. There’s no reason for a setup
fee. MyFax doesn’t have one, and efax seems
to waive theirs as soon as you ask…
Is the monthly fee reasonable?
You should expect to pay around $10 - $15 per
month for a credible supplier. That’s a savings
of about 75% compared to a dedicated fax line.

There are cheaper services offered, but they
tend to be basement operations. If you need
to save a couple of bucks then give them a
shot, but I wouldn’t trust them.
What’s included?
This is a lot like shopping for a cell phone, but
instead of ‘minutes’ you get ‘pages’.

Your fee should cover:
  • A fax number
  • A reasonable number of received faxes
  • A reasonable number of sent faxes.

Don’t get a service that is ‘send only’ or
‘receive only’.
Can you easily track usage?
You should be able to see how many pages
you’ve sent or received during the month.
Are there hidden fees?
Again like your cell phone, it’s easy to be
surprised. Watch for:
  • Forced upgrades
  • Surprise Charges for toll free numbers
  • Extra charges when you go above your
‘free’ limit. These rapidly add up.

MyFax presents a ‘no hidden fees’ message,
and is pretty clear.
